James Duncan

Obituary of James Duncan

1945-2024

Jim Duncan, age 78, of Bristol, Quebec passed away on April 11, 2024 after a short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.  He passed peacefully with his beloved wife of 55 years, Nora Graham, by his side and his three children Graham, Deborah Bonnar and Dave.

Pre-deceased by his parents, James and Emma (nee Morrison), in-laws Wilmer and Anne Graham (nee Craig) and brother Robert Duncan, he will be missed by his remaining brothers Milt (Muriel) and John (Priscilla) and sisters-in-law Cathy Duncan and Grace Joynt and his many nieces and nephews.

Beloved grandfather to Tiernan & Zephyrine Bonnar and Sebastian & Christian Duncan, and father-in-law to Tim Bonnar and Danielle Carbonneau.

Born June 11, 1945, raised in East York, ON and long time resident of Pickering, ON, Jim worked many years in finance and insurance and retired after many happy years with Bank of Montreal. He is fondly remembered by colleagues, members of many churches he attended, members of various choirs (especially the Scarborough Choral Society) and fellow volunteers in community groups. Upon retirement, he and Nora moved to the Ottawa Valley where he shed his “city boy” ways and became a country gentleman. He busied himself at Shawville United Church helping with administration and participating in his life-long love, singing in the church choir.
