Obituary of Carrie-Anne Ward

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear Carrie, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, April 12, 2024 at the young age of 56. Carrie was the beloved daughter of Raymond Ward and Carole (Laroche), oldest sister of Jennifer (Tom Stitt), Scott (Nathalie LaSalle) and Cynthia (Francois Cousineau).  Auntie Carrie to Kyle (Ashley Duarte) and Kaitlyn (Erik Bitmanis) Stitt, Jonathan, Ty, and Brandon Ward and Matthew Grainger.

Carrie was a sports enthusiast and big fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and Ottawa Senators. She enjoyed playing softball and made lifelong friends in the process, with some even caring for her as in her final days at the Shawville hospital. She had a passion and great eye for photography and captured the beauty of everything she photographed.  She took a lot of pride when some of her talented photos were displayed on the CTV News Ottawa segment “photo of the day”.  She loved her family, birds, animals, and anything nature.

Carrie faced a lot of adversity throughout life being deaf and intellectually challenged and spending most of her younger years away from home and family to complete her schooling.  This molded her into the true courageous warrior she was.  In March 2020, she was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, putting her courage and strength to the ultimate test, Carrie was able to put up one heck of a battle over the past four years, and now she is resting peacefully.

Carrie, you are our hero and may you rest in peace surrounded by loved ones passed. Yagi Yagi Boo Boo! Love you more than that! Rock on! And love you girlfriend!

Carrie’s family would like to thank the dedicated and compassionate staff at the Shawville hospital for the care that Carrie received during her many visits and making her and her family time there so comfortable.

In respecting Carrie’s wishes, a private memorial will be held at a later date.
